July 2020 In-Person Hand Job Cancelled

I really wanted to host this event 3 times a year, but I have to be smart about it.

Due to the health and financial risky being to high, I am going to cancel the July Hand Job. I am looking to push the boundaries of art/craft, but I am certainly not looking to push the boundaries of health/safety.

Personally, I don’t feel comfortable being in a large group, including being in a large business office or theater. I don’t see that changing in the next two months. The event was a net loss for me last year, under good conditions, I don’t see it as a good idea to host an event that I am uncomfortable with, when I host the event, I want it to be with joy and confidence. In fact, one of the founding reason I created my own event, was because I did not like the safety and security of other pop-up events.

Even “if” I wanted to push forward, all major online event listings are only promoting digital events and not even listing in-person events. This cancellation of the July event will help me focus more advertising efforts for November.

I will consider if I can do a July digital event, or just try to support the artisans digitally somehow. I am going to ask the currently registered vendors if they want to roll their registration to November or want a refund. I really do look forward to the November Hand Job. My longer term goal is to hand an event March/July/Nov, but for now, just November will be enough for me.

If you are a guest who would like to support the event, please donate to help the cover the costs of the next event. I personally finance the event, inclusive of the venue and advertising, from my own wallet.
